Brownfield Coordinator and State Tribal Response Program (STRP) duties are to identify and contaminated lands within the City of Klawock and work with Government Agencies to see if the site qualifies for funding to be cleaned up.

To  order to be eligible for cleanup assistance  the Land owner cannot be the responsible party for the contaminated site or spill. The goal is to work with stakeholders to reclaim and reuse land that has been contaminated, if the land owner would like help to seek fund opportunities to redevelop the land for reuse the Brownfield Coordinator will assist. Once the project or site is cleaned up, the reuse is up to the land owner it could be a new building, cultural building, garden or greenhouse (high tunnel) or even replant native berry bushes possibilities are endless on how you would like to reuse these sites after clean up is complete.

Clean up and reuse the site, what would be a great idea for redevelopment of the land?

There is a need for generations to come together, what would you like to see built?

Housing needs could be one of the reuse plans, creating jobs and meeting the needs of our community.

Working together we can make our community a better place to live,  let your Tribal leaders know your dreams.
